Hey there! Here’s the 5th book review of 2023 – slowly catching up to posting. Fear not – I am reading quicker than it seems. In any case, please come check out my thoughts on The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz, plus the best quotes from this interesting thriller about books and writing!
Happy Halloween friends! In honor of this fun, spooky day, here’s a new short ghost story!
This one was originally written for the NYC Midnight Flash Fiction Challenge in which no more than 48 hours and 1,000 words could be used to write a story involving the following elements : a ghost story, a martini glass, an oil refinery.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: There’s something about this time of year that inspires a longing to start something new. To set and accomplish new goals.
So… Striving or struggling – What are you doing this fall?
This post is a borrowed bit of prose written by Rosemarie Urquico called Date a Girl Who Reads that beautifully captures the wonder of girls who read. I love it and I think you might, too.
My thoughts on an altercation I recently witnessed.
Sometimes being right, or proving your point, is not as important as maintaining the integrity of the relationship with the person whom you think is wrong.
A short story originally written for a challenge, in which no more that 525 words could be used to write a story that included the following: a woman in a clothes dryer, a wooden hanger, a brush with no bristles, and menstrual cramps.
I hope you enjoy my attempt at a sort of detective drama / mystery!
My review of the fun, food-centered fiction novel ‘Delicious!’ by Ruth Reichl, including the best quotes from the book.
I found Delicious! in my local book store a while back. I was having a shopping spree day where I just looked at covers and found ones that appealed to me (yep – I was judging by the covers… but then reading the back and making an informed decision, of course).
