Love on the Brain Review: My Thoughts
Romance isn’t one of my favorite genres, but it’s also not my least favorite I suppose. Every now and then I enjoy a nice romance book to spice things up. Figuratively and literally.
Love on the Brain was my Book of the Month choice back in September. I liked that the description involved a lot of science. So I saved it on my shelf until I was feeling like a steamy, love story. Well, I guess after the last disturbing thriller I read, now felt like a good time.
I really enjoyed the light hearted, witty nature of this book, coupled with the slightly educational undertones of science and history – what with all the Marie Curie references.
I want to mention right away that this is a romance novel – with erotic, sexy scenes. I’m talking way more erotic than I would have expected. I didn’t mind this, but I could see how some people would be a little taken aback.
In any case, the sex scenes were just a part of an overall good story! I really appreciated the science aspect of the plot and setting. It kept me really interested even though there were a lot of pieces that felt a little too obvious and easy to guess how it would play out.
I found the characters fun to read, and their dialogue was natural, providing a good amount of story information as well as sexual tension and misunderstanding. There were plenty of fun jokes and dry humor throughout.
As I mentioned, there were plot points that felt obvious to figure out where it was going and how it was going to end, but there were still a decent amount of suspense and “will they, won’t they”.
The writing itself was really enjoyable. I have already found another title by this author that I plan to pick up and read. I found a lot of quotes I liked.

Love on the Brain Review: In Conclusion
I really enjoyed this book! Love on the Brain was a fun, sexy read and it gets 4 stars from me. I loved the combination of science and romance and I would definitely read more from this author.
I would recommend this to people who like romance and are ok with some explicit sex scenes. I’d also even suggest it to people who simply enjoy a science based fiction with a strong female lead and little humor. Those points are prominent and fun.
